THE SINISTER SIX should be the New SPIDEY-TRILOGY (Part 2) “SPIDER-MAN 4”

If you search the web you'll find countless blogs and message boards with fans giving their ideas for the new SPIDER-MAN movie. Some ideas are bad and some are good. In Part 1 of this article I stated my opinion on why the new SPIDER-MAN trilogy should incorporate THE SINISTER SIX. So now I will throw my hat into the idea pit to give you my storyline concept for a new SPIDER-MAN trilogy. This will be written using only bullet points of a general storyline.

SPIDER-MAN 4

PETER PARKER is at a lost for friends. HARRY OSBORN is dead and MARY JANE has moved to Hollywood to better her acting career. PETER begins a closer friendship with DR. CONNORS, while also trying to make amends with GWEN STACY due to events from Spider-Man 3. An old man by the name of ADRIAN TOOMES is appointed as the new C.E.O of OSCORP as the company changes management. MR. TOOMES is assisted and guarded by a large man named MAC GARGAN. The news press gather at the airport to report the arrival of celebrity big game hunter KRAVEN THE HUNTER.

KRAVEN has come to New York City as a celebrity guest for an OSCORP charity event supporting Endangered Species. DR. CONNORS meets with MR. TOOMES who wants to recruit him for his team of researchers. CONNORS turns it down, but MR. TOOMES offers him the technology to re-grow his severed arm. CONNORS leaves the meeting without giving an answer, at his home DR. CONNORS tells his wife about MR. TOOMES' offer. PETER looks for DR. CONNORS on the college campus but doesn’t find him and bumps into GWEN STACY and tries another attempt at giving her an apology. DR. CONNORS is at OSCORP undergoing the process of re-growing his arm. A horrible side effect develops and transforms DR. CONNORS into a LIZARD-MAN.

The LIZARD breaks out killing researchers in the process. The DAILY BUGLE receives numerous reports of a giant LIZARD roaming the city and J. JONAH JAMESON tells PETER he must capture the first photo of the creature. KRAVEN reads the LIZARD stories in the newspapers and formulates a plan to capture it. MR. TOOMES researches the OSCORP lab files to find out what went wrong in the CONNORS experiment but discovers the secret files of NORMAN OSBORN. MR. TOOMES reads about the PERFORMANCE ENHANCER SERUM which created the GREEN GOBLIN and he learns SPIDER-MAN’s secret identity.

SPIDER-MAN patrols the night eventually finding the LIZARD and chasing it throughout the city and ending up in the sewer system where they battle for the first time. The LIZARD escapes but SPIDER-MAN has captured the photo JAMESON wanted. At the Bugle PETER submits the photo and JAMESON gives him an invitation for the OSCORP charity event. JAMESON tells PETER that he was personally requested by the new C.E.O MR. TOOMES to cover the event for the Bugle.

That same night SPIDER-MAN is searching the city for the LIZARD but encounters KRAVEN THE HUNTER and a battle ensues. SPIDER-MAN escapes but KRAVEN has obtained SPIDER-MAN’s scent. The next day PETER invites GWEN STACY to the charity event but she declines. Later that night PETER arrives at the OSCORP charity event with AUNT MAY as his date. MR. TOOMES introduces himself to PETER and AUNT MAY. PETER’S spider-sense goes off and he scans the room for potential danger. PETER spots KRAVEN and assumes he is what triggered his spider-sense. MR. TOOMES engages in conversation with AUNT MAY and takes her away as PETER begins to snap photos of the event. KRAVEN captures SPIDER-MAN’s scent in the air and looks around the room to pin point it. PETER becomes nervous and looks for AUNT MAY which he finds still conversing with MR. TOOMES. PETER grabs AUNT MAY and they leave the event.

Outside the banquet hall PETER and AUNT MAY run into GWEN STACY. PETER introduces AUNT MAY to GWEN and AUNT MAY. KRAVEN is still tracking down the scent and exits the banquet hall, but PETER’s spider-sense alerts him. PETER hails a taxi and invites GWEN to AUNT MAY’s house for some dinner and coffee. GWEN accepts and the three of them leave just as KRAVEN is approaching. At the house GWEN and AUNT MAY are conversing. GWEN mentions the disappearance of DR. CONNORS and PETER begins to question her about it. KRAVEN arrives at AUNT MAY’s apartment building still tracing SPIDER-MAN’s scent.

PETER’s spider-sense goes off and he rushes to the window. PETER witnesses LIZARD going into an alley way and rushes out the house making an excuse for his departure. SPIDER-MAN follows LIZARD’s trail and KRAVEN follows them both. SPIDER-MAN finally corners the LIZARD, KRAVEN appears, and an intense three way battle begins. The fight reaches the water front of the city and hits the climax when KRAVEN fatally wounds the LIZARD and it falls into the ocean to its apparent death. SPIDER-MAN defeats KRAVEN and leaves him for the authorities to take into custody. LIZARD’s body is never recovered.

The next day PETER PARKER is speaking with DR. CONNORS’ wife and telling her he will use all his resources to find her husband. At the OSCORP building MR. TOOMES explains to his assistant MAC GARGAN his plans for capturing SPIDER-MAN so he may replicate his abilities. At the home of AUNT MAY the television reports KRAVEN’s arrest. PETER walks into the house and is surprised to see GWEN STACY sitting with AUNT MAY. GWEN invites PETER out on a date and he accepts.

THE SINISTER SIX should be the New SPIDEY-TRILOGY (Part 1)

When SPIDER-MAN swung into movie theaters in 2002 it started a Spidey-Epidemic. Webbed merchandise was all over the place, Spider-Man’s face and logo were massively printed, embroidered, pasted, sketched, airbrushed, shit smeared, projected, and carved on every possible piece of saleable material. SPIDER-MAN created obese wallets for bootleggers everywhere, but Spidey also satisfied the appetite of the Hollywood Profit Hungry Monster. We Spidey-Swing to 2004 and SPIDER-MAN 2 made enough money to cover for five corrupt business tycoons. Three years later SPIDER-MAN 3 webs up box office ticket booths to bring in a hefty amount of cash. It was large enough to make GHANDOLF THE GREAT sweat in his hobbit hair robe and force CAPTAIN JACK SPARROW to sober up a bit. The UNCLE SCROOGE money pit the studio now had convinced them that SPIDER-MAN was like JELL-O, and there was always room for more. The Studio announces that the SPIDER-MAN movie franchise will continue for three more movies. So prepare for SPIDER-MAN 4, 5, and 6.

I’m going to come right out and say it, SPIDER-MAN 6 must include THE SINISTER SIX. There are so many reasons why this will work and be a good move on the Studios behalf. This new trilogy of SPIDEY-MOVIES has the potential to be the biggest comic book movie series of all time. The movie-to-movie build up of SPIDER-MAN’s biggest challenge can become THE LORD THE RINGS of comic book films. With principal photography for SPIDER-MAN 4 on the horizon it’s safe to say the Director and Crew already know where they’re headed with the new cinematic adventures of SPIDER-MAN. Not to say that this article will change their minds, but even they wanted to change the direction of the movie, it might be accurate to say it’s too late. Hopefully these so-called “smarter than us” Hollywood people already thought about this idea, and are executing it in a smarter way because they are smarter than me. I will provide a short list of reasons why THE SINISTER SIX has the ability to be the greatest thing in SPIDEY-CINEMA history.

3 Reasons why THE SINISTER SIX should be the New SPIDER-MAN Trilogy

  • Novelty – The most obvious of reasons will be the novelty factor of the sixth movie in the Spider-Man franchise containing The Sinister Six. Think of all the posters and advertisements that will be created incorporating the number six, Spider-Man, and the Villains. A truck load of taglines, catchy phrases, and number six references are on the horizon. Movie posters, banners, character specific ads, and commercials all over the place subliminally making you crave THE VULTURE with their number six marketing campaign.
  • Merchandising – The normal Spider-Man merchandising applies, but the “Novelty” factor kicks in. With each movie building to the final epic fight in Spider-Man 6, there will be a good number of villains to stretch throughout the trilogy. This equals waves of merchandise for each movie including Halloween costumes, posters, clothing, action figures, and box sets that are made of villain characters to be released with each movie. An ultimate SINISTER SIX box set can hit toy shelves featuring all six villains with cool paint jobs and sold for $150 even though it’s just the $10 figure repainted. Obviously there is a plethora of other merchandise options and this is just an example.
  • Hype/Anticipation – The Lord of Rings and Harry Potter series benefited immensely using this factor. Using multiple movies to tell an interconnected story, which is part of one giant storyline. The audience signed on for one movie but will stay for three or seven if they like wizards. In the case of Spider-Man and The Sinister Six, each movie will introduce the Villains and raise the stacks, building to the final assembling of the team, and Spider-Man’s greatest battle. If you want an example of this Hype/Anticipation factor then look no longer further than THE AVENGERS movie hitting theaters in 2012. We all know you going to see IRON MAN 2, but not for WAR WACHINE. You want to see how the movie brings you closer to THE AVENGERS. The trilogy of The Sinister Six will give Spider-Fans the dream movie they have always wanted.
